FAQs

How many guests can stay at the farm?

The Old Tractor Shed self contained holiday barn has a maximum occupancy of two guests.  We originally started by welcoming three and four guests with the use of the sofa bed in the living room, but we took the decision this year to limit the guests to two, to make maximum use and enjoyment of the tiny space.  The Old Tractor Shed is approximately 40 sq mt so perfect for a couples romantic retreat or a weekend rural getaway.

Do you accept dogs?

Unfortunately we cannot yet accommodate your four legged friends in our flag ship rental The Old Tractor Shed, however do check back as we hope to welcome well behaved dogs in our new builds which we are planning for Spring 2023, and we may well change our pet policy as we grow our brick conversion properties.  We have three of our own dogs on site at the farm.

How private is The Old Tractor Shed as we would like total isolation?

The Old Tractor Shed is on the edge of our farm set high on the edge of a former gravel pit turned nature reserve, and is accessed by a private gate.  The space is separated at the rear from the rest of the farm by a high wall and fence.  Once guests are inside the gate, the space is entirely theirs for the stay with far reaching views to the front, over the bottom of the village and miles of open Leicesershire countryside.  Whilst we aim to be discreet and to leave guests to relax in privacy, sometimes not seeing them at all, it is not totally “isolated”, as guests may see us from time to time coming and going in the fields, bringing in horses, feeding sheep and doing general farm duties.  The car park is shared with The Flower House studio florist so occasionally cars come and go to collect flower orders.

How close is the nearest shop?

The nearest village store is in Stoke Golding and is approximately 2 miles away.  Semhbi Stores is a newsagent, convenience store and off licence but has limited opening times so may be best to check before setting off.  There are also two convenience stores as you arrive in Hinckley at One Stop on Stoke Road and Best One on Wykin Road – both have long opening hours.

Morrisons is the nearest supermarket approximately 2.3 miles towards Hinckley, and the town also offers Sainsburys, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and Asda stores too.

I am booking for a birthday surprise, can you help with setting up the surprise for my partner?

Yes of course.  We specialise in creating experiences and love helping with a surprise!  From rose petals to fizz, from balloons to banners, from birthday cakes to marriage proposals, just pop me an email to kate@hallfarmdadlington.co.uk and I will work with you to create the perfect setting.

How far is the nearest pub?

The Dog & Hedgehog is our nearest pub and restaurant (currently closed Monday & Tuesday).  Viewed directly across from The Old Tractor Shed this English pub is just a short 5 minute walk away.  We are planning to open a pit top pathway for exclusive use of our guests directly to the road opposite the pub, but for now the walk is down our drive and back up the lane into the village.  We recommend crossing over and walking across the village green to access the pub rather than walking on the road bend.

The next village of Stoke Golding is home to three more pubs, the George & Dragon, the White Swan, and the Three Horseshoes (please check with each for food), with the Three Horseshoes hosting The Mango Tree Indian Cuisine at the back of the building.  Sutton Cheney is a short drive away (or a walk in daylight) and is home to the Hercules Revived offering a gastro pub experience with an outdoor pizza area – my personal favourite!

Take a look at the Gastro Tour page for my recommendations and lots more foodie info.

Do you allow smoking in the property?

All our properties have a strict no smoking policy and smoke alarms are fitted in the properties for your safety.

Do you have a restaurant or cafe on site?

We currently do not have catering facilities on site.  Each property offers a fully equipped kitchen and BBQ for guests to cook, and there are a host of pubs and eateries within a short distance.  We can provide breakfast hampers of locally sourced items, and please feel free to contact us if you have a specific package in mind such as a treats hamper.  We will do our very best to accommodate all requests.

The nearest cafe is Sutton Wharf which guests can access via a 20 minute walk along the canal tow path or a shorter walk via road.  It’s about 2 minutes by car.

Do you offer accommodation for families with children?

We currently do not offer accommodation to children due to the nature of our farm site. As we develop our rental portfolio, we may change our policy.

Do you offer a concierge service?

We can offer as much, or as little, as you need to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as we can.  Some guests prefer total isolation and no contact, whereas other prefer us to book outings and dining, offer interim or daily cleans and ensure the hot tub is always ready.  Whether you just want fresh ice, you like new towels daily or you need us to help with planning your days, just let us know and we can tailor a package for your stay.

Do you have a Covid cleaning procedure in place?

We are committed to the AirBnB 5 Stage Cleaning Plan and we also have out our Covid Policy in place to ensure your safety.

Is the wood fired hot tub easy to use?

Yes, it’s very simple.  The tub will be lit by us ready for your arrival and only needs a couple of logs adding once again that day.  It heats up within 3-4 hours to heat from cold and then the fire should then be let to die out.  You can enjoy the tub in the evening and then replace the insulated cover which keeps it warm into the next morning.  Later on the fire can be relit (for guests requiring help we are more than happy to pop in to do this for you) and the tub will warm up again in under an hour for the afternoon/evening. We will remove ashes and clean the tub after your checkout.  For guests staying longer than 2-3 nights, we can arrange to clean the burner during your stay.

Is there parking on site?

Yes, we have allocated parking for up to 4 cars in our courtyard right near to the private entrance to The Old Tractor Shed.  Cars and their contents are left entirely at owners’ risk.

Is there CCTV at the farm?

Yes, we have CCTV cameras on all our entrances and on the car park.
