Take the long driveway up past the orchard, turning right at the fishpond and into the big gravelled courtyard. Two car parking spaces for The Old Tractor Shed are signed on the top right hand side of the courtyard facing the fields, so you can see our magical views immediately you arrive.

Arriving at the property

The private entrance gate to The Old Tractor Shed can be found in the top right hand corner of the courtyard.  Just let yourself through the gate into your accommodation garden.  They key info will be given prior to arrival.  If you wish, we can meet you on arrival to go through things such as the hot tub and stove or we can leave you to settle in and relax – just let us know.

For your convenience there is a doorbell at The Old Tractor Shed gate for guests who wish to order food deliveries.

One of our planned projects is to create and fenced private pit top pathway from The Old Tractor Shed garden straight to the road opposite the Dog & Hedgehog.  Watch this space!

Joining the Footpath & Towpath

You can either join our Public Footpath by using the stile on the roadside opposite the Dog & Hedgehog to enter the pit field and set off along the footpath, or you can walk to the bottom of our driveway and immediately turn left through the snicket in the hedge heading along the edge of the wheat field to pick up the footpath.  Both these routes also lead to the Ashby canal towpath.  When you reach the towpath, it’s left for Stoke Golding and right for Sutton Cheney.

Heating & Cooling

SEPT to MAY/JUNE- Underfloor Heating

The property has underfloor heating throughout.  There is a digital thermostat mounted on the wall near the bathroom door.  We have found that the best way to keep the property at a constant is to leave the mode on ‘Manual’ and to keep the temperature set at around 16 degrees.  This may sound low, but we have found that once the floor has heated it keeps a temperature above that level.  If you press the Up arrows to increase this it can eventually get quite hot meaning windows have to be opened.  Please refer to the back of this folder for the full instruction sheet.

MAY/JUNE – SEPT – Air Conditioning

Above the bathroom doorway is a wall mounted LG air con unit.  The remote for this can be found beside the kitchen sink/bathroom door.  This unit both cools and heats.  We have set the unit to Auto – please leave it set to Auto.  You can adjust the temperature by pressing the up and down arrows.  The temperature to which the machine is working is displayed on the air con unit.  It will cool or heat accordingly.

We politely ask, that if the air con is cooling, you please keep WINDOWS & DOORS CLOSED

Heated Towel Rail

The heated towel rail is on the same system as the underfloor heating and will be heated from the same thermostat setting. To override the rail and turn it On when the underfloor is Off, the switch is in the top right kitchen cupboard.

Clothes Airer

We have provided a folding airer for drying clothes and coats which can be found in the bedroom wardrobe.

Ironing

We have provided a steam iron and mini ironing board which can be found in the bedroom wardrobe.  The ironing board can be used on the counter or table top.  If for any reason you require a full size ironing board call 07791 597027.

Dishwasher

Please refer to the back of the in-accommodation file for the instruction booklet.

Oven/Microwave

This Bosch Combi oven and microwave is adequate for light cooking ie pizzas, heating, grilling, warming.  It may not be ideal for creating a full Sunday roast.  Please refer to the in-accommodation file for the instruction booklet.

Hob

The hob can be turned on by touching the Power button.  To use each ring, just touch that ring on the front panel and then use the + and – buttons to increase or decrease the heat.  The hob can be locked – if the key symbol shows, just press your finger on the Power button for about 5 seconds until it unlocks the controls.

Cooking

Please feel free to pick and use the fresh herbs we have planted in the tub outside the doors.

Wood Burning Stove

You may find that the underfloor heating is enough for your comfort during your stay as the Old Tractor Shed is extremely well insulated, but should you wish to light the log burner, you will find kindling and logs in the basket beside.  A gas stick lighter & matches can be found in one of the top kitchen cupboards.  Firelighters are in the tin in the log store.  There is also a set of utensils and a gauntlet for your safety.  The wood burner can be controlled using the lever at the base which opens (right) and closes (left) the vent to control the flame.  We will remove ash after your checkout.  For guests staying for longer stays we can arrange to maintain the burner periodically during your stay.  A metal  ash bin is provided beside the log store outside should you wish to dispose of the ashes during your stay.  Please do not put cigarette ends or anything except logs in the wood burner.

Bed

The kingsize bed in the bedroom has an ottoman storage base.  Simply grab the two hand holes in the end of the bed base and lift the hyraulic action top to reveal extar bedding and pillows.  The mattress has been very carefully chosen for your comfort and is a Millbrook British-made Zen Luxury 3000 Spring Pillowtop Mattress.  We hope you have a wonderful night’s sleep!

Pillows & Bedding

We understand that pillow preference is a very personal thing so you will find a selection of alternative pillows in the ottoman bed base in the main bedroom, including hollow fibre and a firm support memory foam choice.

Our standard duvets and cushions are duck down.  If you require anti allergy hollow fibre bedding please let us know when booking and prior to your stay – 07791 597027

First Aid Kit

A first aid kit can be found in the bathroom drawer.

Fire Safety

In the event of a fire, please evacuate the property immediately and convene at the fire safety point in the courtyard car park.

The property is fitted with smoke and heat detectors for your safety.  A fire blanket and fire extinguisher can be found in the upper kitchen cupboard nearest the bathroom door and a second fire extinguisher can also be found next to the wood burning stove in the living room.

Fire Pit

We have a Weber Fire Pit.  See Logs below.

Logs

We have provided a supply of logs in the log store which should be adequate for warming your hut tub during your stay.

All of our wood has been chopped from trees felled on the farm.  We please ask you to use wood responsibly and sparingly during your stay.

If you would like to use the indoor stove, fire pit and hot tub and you require more logs these are available at £10 per pack and can be brought to the accommodation by purchasing this product online – please text 07791 597027 to let us know you have bought them in case we miss the order email when we are busy on the farm.

Fire Wood Bundle – to purchase click this link

Bins

You will find small bins both in the kitchen under sink cupboard and in the bathroom. Extra bin liners can be found in the kitchen under sink cupboard and the bathroom vanity drawer. You will find wheelie bins in the wood storage cabinet right outside the Tractor Shed gate in courtyard beside the parking. Blue for recycling and black for general waste.

Hot Tub Management

The hot tub is fully drained, cleaned and sanitised between each guest stay.  We will light the wood burner to get it warming nicely for your arrival.  The perfect temperature for the water is 38-40 degrees when we let the fire die out.  On arrival you should check the temperature and, if required, add more logs.  You can bathe with the fire going to keep the tub warm whilst you are bathing with the lid off, but be aware of the warm water outlet in the tub.   The tub should hold temperature with the cover replaced after use to keep it warm into the next day.  The stove will need to be relit the following day to bring the water back up to temperature.  We will empty the ashes after you checkout.  For guests staying on longer stays we can arrange to clean the burner during your stay.  The water is treated with a small amount of chlorine to keep it sparkly, but if you have any issues just let us know.  A metal ash bin is provided next to the hot tub should you wish to dispose of the ashes during longer stays.  Please do not put cigarette ends in the wood burner.

Please read our Full Hot Tub Instruction Guide
