If you’re staying with us during the summer, you might notice the occasional tractor rumbling past, hear or see them working after dark with their lights on, or wonder why there’s a friendly toot as they cross the canal bridge.

For a few precious weeks each year, farmers make the most of every dry hour. Crops don’t wait for Monday morning, and they certainly don’t clock off at 5pm. If the weather is right, the combines roll, the trailers keep moving and sometimes the working day stretches well into the evening—or even through the night.
We know it might interrupt the peace now and again, but every tractor you see is part of a much bigger picture.
They’re harvesting wheat for your bread, barley for your breakfast cereal, straw for animal bedding and bringing in a year’s worth of hard work before the next rain arrives.
So if you hear a tractor in the distance, think of it as the soundtrack of the countryside.
After all… they’re making your food. 🌾🍞🤎
