A Circular Walk Through History
We are super excited to have our hands on a copy of the brand new book, The Battlefields & Borderlands Way, by Eddie Smallwood and Michael Dix, two Dadlington villagers who have written this wonderful guide – A circular walk through 2000 years of English History. They show how the two counties of Leicestershire & Warwickshire are inextricably linked to one of the most important battles in British History, as well as Quakerism, British Civil War skirmishes, famous inventors, renowned academics, industrial revolution and even a highwayman.
Split into sections the route uses public footpaths, bridleways, byways and quiet country lanes to take you around the wonderful open countryside that borders the A5 Watling Street.
Following the detailed maps of the different sections of the walk, and reading about the history of each place along the route, make the experience of walking the Borderlands Way a most enjoyable one.
The fully presented paperback book features a full colour tour including the nearby villages of Stoke Golding and Sutton Cheney and is a must read for anyone wanting to set off on these local Leicestershire walks.
Book available for guests to read during their stay at The Old Tractor Shed at Hall Farm Dadlington or available to buy below – checkout below for collection or email hello@hallfarmdadlington.co.uk if you require your book to be posted out and we will arrange an invoice with postage.
